About us....

The Mentawai Mooring Movement is a group of concerned coral reef scientists and surfers who are raising awareness of the damage caused to coral reefs by anchored vessels.

Anchors cause untold damage to fragile reefs and it is our responsibility, as surfers and reef users, to protect the coral for future generations.

Currently in the Mentawai Islands our group is undertaking the modest, but essential, task of developing permanent moorings for the small boats run by thewavepark and kandui surf resorts. Through funds raised we hope to expand our project to include larger boat moorings and moorings outside the Mentawai Islands.
